Mechanical Engineer – Data Center

Position Summary
Lynk Engineers is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Data Center to support the planning, design, and coordination of mechanical systems for mission critical and data center facilities. This role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop reliable, resilient, and energy-efficient HVAC and cooling infrastructure solutions that support high-performance operational environments and uptime requirements.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, collaborative, detail-oriented, and experienced in designing mechanical systems for data centers, mission critical environments, and complex commercial facilities.
Essential Responsibilities
Design mechanical systems for mission critical and data center facilities, including:
Cooling systems
Chilled water systems
CRAH/CRAC units
Air distribution systems
HVAC systems
Heat rejection systems
Ventilation systems
Plumbing systems supporting mission critical operations
Prepare engineering calculations, load calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents
Coordinate designs with electrical, structural, architectural, technology, and commissioning teams
Participate in design meetings, owner meetings, and multidisciplinary coordination reviews
Support energy analysis, redundancy evaluations, and system reliability planning
Review submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and contractor questions during construction
Participate in site visits, commissioning activities, punch walks, and field investigations
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverable deadlines
Mentor junior engineers and designers, as applicable
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure
4+ years of mechanical engineering experience preferred
Experience with mission critical or data center mechanical systems preferred
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD preferred
Familiarity with HVAC load calculation and energy modeling software preferred
Understanding of applicable mechanical, energy, and building codes
Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills

Data center or colocation facility design
Redundant and resilient HVAC system design
Chilled water plant design
Airflow management and containment strategies
Mission critical commissioning processes
BIM coordination and multidisciplinary project delivery
Sustainable and energy-efficient system design
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis
